Outstanding service from Open Water Septic! We had a septic backup emergency on a Saturday night, and Open Water Septic came through when we needed them most. They responded quickly, arrived on time, and immediately got to work diagnosing and fixing the problem. The technician was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. What could have been a very stressful situation was handled efficiently and with great customer service from start to finish. Best of all, the price was very reasonable, especially for an after-hours emergency call. It's hard to find companies these days that are responsive, honest, and fairly priced, but Open Water Septic exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Open Water Septic to anyone needing septic services. We will definitely call them again if we ever need help in the future. Thank you for the excellent service!

We had a great experience with Open Water Septic tonight. Around 5:30 PM, my husband and I realized we had sewage backing up into our house and were panicking. We called, and Mike was at our house within 45 minutes. He immediately got to work pumping the septic and took the time to explain that there was also a clog causing the issue. Mike was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind during a really stressful situation. He got everything taken care of quickly, and to top it off, he even let my son start up his truck at the end, which absolutely made his night. We truly appreciate the fast response, great communication, and excellent service. Highly recommend!

We have been having an issue with our septic tank backing up, off and on, for the past 5 years. The last company we used was out here twice and only serviced the tank but never identified the issue. Open Water Septic Service was able to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of our issue and correct the problem. Alec was very professional, patient and did not give up until he found the problem. We are very pleased and would highly recommend them for any and all of your septic tank issues.

    Septic Tank Pumping FAQs

What is the frequency with which I should pump my septic tank?

The pumping of most residential septic systems should be done every three to five years, based on use and the size of the tank. Pumping frequently helps to eliminate the accumulation of sludge and also avoids damaging your drain field. The cost of not maintaining it may cause backups, odors, and expensive system failures in the long run.

Our professional service at Open Water Septic will be a complete check, removal of waste by the use of vacuum equipment, cleaning of the tank, and finally checking the system. The procedure will ensure that your septic system is completely emptied, functioning as intended, and ready to continue use without any underlying problems.

The warning signs may be characterized by slow drains, foul odors, gurgling sounds, standing water near the drain field, or backups of sewage. These are indicative of the fact that your tank might or might not be full, and you need to seek professional help to avoid serious losses.

Routine repairs are likely to help extend the life of your septic system and prevent expensive repairs. The solids might overflow into the drain field until the solids are pumped out on a regular basis, and the contamination of the environment, which may also be costly to remedy, may result.

Yes, at least when professionally done. To ensure that the environment regulations are met, certified technicians utilize the right equipment and dispose of the waste at authorized locations. This not only keeps your property, groundwater, and the surrounding environment safe but also keeps your septic system operating safely.

More people mean more wastewater and solids entering your system daily. Open Water Septic recommends that larger families or busy households schedule septic tank pumping every three years. Smaller households can usually stretch it to five years, but increased usage always requires more frequent maintenance.

We handle septic tank pumping in most weather conditions, including standard rain. However, severe storms, deep ground freezing, or major flooding over your drain field can create safety hazards or risk lawn damage. If conditions turn extreme, Open Water Septic will work with you to safely reschedule.

When you fail to have your septic tank pumped, solid waste builds up until it overflows into your drainage field, which then clogs your soil, causing sewage backups in your home’s pipes, and producing bad smells, leading to a complete system failure in the end, which is costly to replace.

Yes, we understand that backups happen at the worst times. Open Water Septic provides responsive service to handle urgent situations. If your toilets won’t flush, drains are gurgling, or waste is pooling in the yard, call us immediately for emergency septic tank pumping to protect your property from damage.

For most average residential properties, the entire septic tank pumping process takes between 45 minutes and an hour. This includes our initial system inspection, vacuuming out the waste layers, and rinsing the tank clean. Our Open Water Septic team works efficiently to minimize any disruption to your day.
