How Open Water Septic Helps Customers Avoid Unnecessary Costs

Real Septic Problems. Real Solutions.

Six Months of Pump-Outs — One Camera Inspection Found the Real Problem

A customer called Open Water Septic after having their septic tank pumped approximately once a month for the previous six months. Another septic company had been repeatedly pumping the tank but told the customer they were not sure what was causing the problem. The customer had also been told that they might need an entirely new drain field, which could potentially cost $10,000, $15,000, or considerably more depending on the system. Instead of continuing to pump the tank without knowing the cause, the customer contacted Open Water Septic for another opinion.

Tank Pumped, But the House Was Still Backing Up

A customer contacted Open Water Septic after another septic company had already pumped their septic tank. Unfortunately, the plumbing was still backing up afterward. The customer understandably did not know why the problem remained after paying to have the tank pumped. While evaluating the system, we noticed signs of grease coming from the plumbing line. That told us the problem might not be the septic tank itself. We inspected the line and determined there was a blockage restricting flow between the house and the septic system.

I Didn’t Even Know My Septic Tank Had Two Lids

A customer contacted Open Water Septic because their septic system was backing up again even though they had supposedly had the tank pumped only a few months earlier. They wanted a second opinion about why the problem had returned so quickly. We located the septic tank and began uncovering the access lids. After exposing the first lid, we started digging to uncover the second lid. The customer stopped us and asked what we were doing. We explained that we were locating and opening the second septic tank access lid. The customer responded that they did not even know there was a second lid — and that they had never seen a septic company uncover two lids at their home before.

$2,000+ Pump Replacement — Or a Bad Float?

A homeowner was experiencing problems with their septic pump. Another septic company evaluated the system and told the homeowner that the entire septic pump needed to be replaced. That repair would have resulted in a bill of more than $2,000. Before authorizing the replacement, the homeowner contacted Open Water Septic for a second opinion. We inspected the pump system and determined that the pump itself was not the problem. The problem was a failed septic float. The float is responsible for telling the system when liquid reaches a certain level and when the pump needs to turn on or off. A failed float can make a perfectly functional pump appear to have failed.

An Emergency Septic Backup — But the Customer Couldn’t Afford the Pump-Out

A customer contacted Open Water Septic with an urgent situation. Their septic system was backing up into the house. They could not properly use their toilets, sinks, or showers, and the septic tank needed to be pumped as soon as possible. There was another problem: The customer did not have the money available to pay for the service upfront. They had been calling septic companies specifically trying to find someone who could offer financing. Open Water Septic offers customers a financing option through Wisetack, a third-party financing provider integrated with our customer-management system. We prepared the customer’s quote and provided them with the opportunity to apply for financing from their phone. In this customer's case, the process moved quickly, and within approximately two hours they had received approval for a financing option that allowed them to pay for the service over time rather than coming up with the entire amount that day.

But answering the phone was only the beginning. After scheduling, we sent the customer a confirmation summarizing their appointment information so they knew exactly what to expect. Then, on the day of service, we sent another notification when the technician was on the way. The customer knew: Their appointment had actually been scheduled When we planned to arrive When the technician was headed to their home What service was being performed What they were being charged After the work was completed, the customer also received an invoice for their records.

A Septic Inspection That Gives Buyers and Realtors Something They Can Actually Use

Septic systems can become an important issue during the purchase or sale of a home. A buyer wants to know what they're purchasing. A seller wants to avoid surprises. And the real estate agent needs clear information that can be shared with everyone involved in the transaction. Many septic inspections provide very little written documentation. A company may pump the tank, take a quick look at the system, and verbally tell the customer that everything appears okay. That leaves the buyer and realtor with very little information afterward. When Open Water Septic performs a real estate septic inspection, our goal is to provide useful documentation — not simply a pump-out and a verbal opinion. We pump and evaluate the septic tank and provide the customer with a professional written report, generally one to two pages, documenting what we observed. Depending on the system and inspection, the report can include information such as: Condition of the septic tank Conditions observed during pumping and inspection Visible issues or concerns Items that may require repair or further evaluation Recommended corrective action when an issue is identified Before-and-after photographs Photographs documenting conditions found during the inspection

Outstanding service from Open Water Septic! We had a septic backup emergency on a Saturday night, and Open Water Septic came through when we needed them most. They responded quickly, arrived on time, and immediately got to work diagnosing and fixing the problem. The technician was professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. What could have been a very stressful situation was handled efficiently and with great customer service from start to finish. Best of all, the price was very reasonable, especially for an after-hours emergency call. It's hard to find companies these days that are responsive, honest, and fairly priced, but Open Water Septic exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend Open Water Septic to anyone needing septic services. We will definitely call them again if we ever need help in the future. Thank you for the excellent service!

We had a great experience with Open Water Septic tonight. Around 5:30 PM, my husband and I realized we had sewage backing up into our house and were panicking. We called, and Mike was at our house within 45 minutes. He immediately got to work pumping the septic and took the time to explain that there was also a clog causing the issue. Mike was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind during a really stressful situation. He got everything taken care of quickly, and to top it off, he even let my son start up his truck at the end, which absolutely made his night. We truly appreciate the fast response, great communication, and excellent service. Highly recommend!

We have been having an issue with our septic tank backing up, off and on, for the past 5 years. The last company we used was out here twice and only serviced the tank but never identified the issue. Open Water Septic Service was able to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of our issue and correct the problem. Alec was very professional, patient and did not give up until he found the problem. We are very pleased and would highly recommend them for any and all of your septic tank issues.
